Unconditional Love or Unconditional Compassion?

Author’s Note: This is a concept I’ve been thinking about for a very long time.  I’d love to hear your thoughts and opinions. 🙂

Unconditional Love,
or
Unconditional Compassion?

Love is conditional.
Compassion,
however,
is not.

Would love collected weeds in bundles
only to have them burned?

Yet compassion sees suffering,
and puts it out of
its misery.

There is a shadow side to Spirit.
Most don’t like to see
nor talk about.

Perhaps we’ve had it all wrong.

Instead of love one another
as I have loved you…
the saying should really be,

Show compassion to others
as I have shown compassion to you?

For love is conditional.
It dies when the conditions
are no longer met,
but compassion
seems to have
no such conditions.

The sky rains and shines upon land
no matter
the
soil.
