Four Aspects to a Balanced Life

This summer I am working on the fourth revision of a diary I keep while going through cancer. Each day I will share one rewritten entry. My goal is to have the fourth rough draft completed by August 15th. All rights reserved, but feedback welcome.:)

One Hundred and Eighty One
Table of Life

Before a vision can be born,
one must enter the dark
and that
is where we are headed.

This is nothing to fear
as long as we
carry one spark of light,
one spark of hope.

Time slows down
which allows for contemplation.
What is working?
What is not?

Four legs
to a balanced life:
physical, mental,
emotional, and spiritual.

Examine the table.
Test each leg.
Keep that which is sturdy,
fix that which is not.

Our pastor says,
“desperation drives determination.”
Which leg in my life is in need
of desperate repair?

Which area will drive
my determination
for
a better life?

Day One Hundred and Eighty Two
Balance

I must find a way
to keep my table balanced.
Even if it means
thinking outside of the box.

Making physical health
my number one priority
a leg on my table of life
that is currently out of balance.

Create a calm and consistent
balanced, and predictable schedule.
That can also flow
as much as possible.

Balanced physical health,
leads to all other areas health:
mental and emotional. One must not
forsake one for the other.

This may take
thinking outside of the box
blending and combining
one area over the other.

Make family time
community gym time,
findings ways to interweave
all aspects of health into one space time.

I must find a way
to keep my table balanced.
Even if it means
thinking outside of the box.
